What are SIPS?

Structural Insulated Panels – SIPS – are an advanced method of construction, offering superior insulation, structural strength and air-tightness over traditional construction methods or systems. SIP panels are used in floors, walls and roofs for residential, industrial, educational and commercial applications, providing ecologically friendly and energy efficient buildings.

SIP technology has been developed around composite (or sandwich) panel techniques, creating a product with excellent structural and thermal characteristics.

The SIPS manufactured by Eco Panels consist of two parallel faces – 2 panels of MgSO4 sandwiching a rigid core of Polyurethane (PU) foam with an “R” rating of 4.5, making them lightweight, quick to erect and free from problems of compression shrinkage and cold bridging associated with other forms of construction.

ECO Panels SIPs use Magnesium Sulphate (MgSO4) which represent the next generation of SIPs having no salt and having superior fire rating to traditional fibro cement and OSB SIP panels. Eco Panels SIPs are also a healthy choice as they contain no organic solvents, heavy metals, asbestos, oils or other toxic ingredients and are classified as a “Green Building Material.” MgSO4 will not support black mould growth and has a high resistance to moisture absorption, making it an ideal choice for wet, humid environments. MgSO4 is strong, durable and high impact resistant, a requirement for cyclone and flood prone areas. With ECO Panels SIPs, the use of gyprock, timber and other materials can be eliminated, which further reduces the time and cost of construction. The exterior surface can be painted or coated with a synthetic stucco finish, lap siding, brick veneer, stone and a host of other suitable exterior finishes and have superior loading, fire ratings and acoustic values over OSB and fibro cement boards.

SIP wall systems provide improved structural performance. Panels will not rot or decay, are not susceptible to termite attack and the finished internal and external surfaces are ready for painting or plastering. Their structural integrity is not affected by extremes of moisture or temperature, making them an ideal building material for use in all climates.

Eco Panels SIP panels eliminate floor joists and allow larger spans between bearers thus reducing flooring costs
